Firm portal help
Work offline in the firm app
The firm app keeps working without a connection: cases you've opened stay readable, and four kinds of changes queue up and send themselves when you're back online. A banner tells you when you're offline — "You're offline and viewing saved data… changes you make offline will sync automatically when you're back online."
What works offline
Exactly four writes queue for later delivery:
- Send a message to a client.
- Post a status update.
- Move a task between To do, In progress, and Done.
- Read receipts — opening a thread still marks it read.
Queued items show a Sending… badge where they'll land, and retries can't double-post.
The Outbox
While anything is queued, an Outbox button appears in the page header (on mobile, the same list lives in the More sheet). It shows each waiting change as Queued or Sending, and anything that failed gets Retry and Discard buttons — failures are recorded, never silently dropped. Delivery is first-in, first-out, so a thread reads in the order you wrote it.
What waits for a connection
Anything that creates client-visible structure or moves files is online-only, with an inline note where the button lives: creating cases and document requests, uploads, draft work, calendar entries, phase changes, client and team management, case settings, and the agent. The Subscription screen and What's new aren't cached at all.
Reading offline
Cases, messages, tasks, and dates you've loaded while online stay readable from the local cache. A case you've never opened shows "Not available offline — reconnect to load it." The client portal behaves the same way for clients — their messages queue too, so a conversation survives a bad connection on both ends.
