Fixed

Case deletion completes reliably

Deleting a closed Case now completes normally and places it in the Deleted view for its 30-day recovery window. Deleted Cases stay hidden elsewhere and remain read-only while awaiting recovery or permanent removal.

Emails clearly come from BetterDocket

Product emails now consistently show BetterDocket as the sender instead of a bare notifications address, making portal invitations, reminders, and other notices easier to recognize.

Requested document uploads work again

Clients can once again upload files in response to Document Requests from the Client Portal. The fix covers ordinary requested files as well as signed copies returned with an attached Firm document.

Your Subscription price at a glance

Subscription settings now lead with the simple price: $10/month for the Firm + $4/month per open Case. The monthly price at your current caseload and the bill so far appear separately, with daily proration and storage details available when you need them.

A Client Portal that makes the next action clear

The Client Portal home now has three clear places: Your cases, Needs you, and Recent activity. The same priorities carry into each Case, so unread Messages, Document Requests, Draft Reviews, upcoming Key Dates, and unpaid Invoices appear in one consistent list.

Review invoices before you send them

Open a draft as the exact PDF your Client will receive before issuing it. BetterDocket saves the current draft first, so the preview includes your latest dates, recipients, discount, and payment instructions.

Native Client invoicing, from time to PDF

BetterDocket now has a dedicated Billing area for Firms and Clients. Build a USD invoice from completed billable time, manual charges, or both; choose exactly who receives it; and issue a permanent PDF without moving the matter into a separate system.

Improved

A calmer, more dependable BetterDocket

The firm workspace, client portal, and public site now share a flatter, quieter visual system. Open layouts and compact controls keep attention on the case instead of the interface around it.

Your case, your workspace

Work a case one section at a time or spread it across a flexible desktop canvas. Put messages beside tasks, keep documents close to their requests, tile windows, and come back to the same arrangement later.

A phone experience built for phones

On small screens the app stops pretending to be a desktop site. You get a bottom tab bar for the places you actually go — Today, Cases, Tasks — a sticky case header with swipeable sections, chat that composes above your thumb, and forms that open as bottom sheets instead of tiny dialogs.

Changes appear live, on every screen

When a teammate checks off a task or a client sends a message, it shows up on your screen within a second — no refresh, no "pull to update." The app keeps every open case in sync across your devices and your whole team.

Your cases work offline

Courthouse basements, elevators, airplane mode — the new app doesn't care. Cases you've opened before stay readable with no connection at all: phases, tasks, messages, updates, and key dates all render from your device.

Close cases when the work is done

Cases now have an end. Close a case from the workspace header or case settings, with an optional closing note that posts as a client-visible update — the client sees the matter wrapped up properly in their portal.

Restricted cases are locked down tighter

Restricted cases limit access to explicit assignees and firm admins. We audited every table that stores case content and closed the remaining gaps: activity history, copilot conversations, notification contents, and portal engagement data now enforce the same restriction boundary as the case itself, at the database layer.

Improved

Case work opens in its own workspace

Firm users now land in the workspace after login. Today, Portfolio, New Case, Settings, and Firm Copilot open as desktop apps instead of sending you back to separate pages.

Client portal, rebuilt

Clients now get the same structured workspace firms use. The portal has a dedicated navigation rail, per-case sections, and separate pages for messages, documents, updates, key dates, availability, and the firm team.

Premium visual refresh

BetterDocket has a new visual direction across the core firm and client experience. The app now uses a lighter layered canvas, richer work surfaces, sapphire-to-teal action styling, and navy navigation rails that feel more polished without making the product feel heavy.

Firm workspace, tightened

The firm portal now keeps case work closer to the surface. Case pages use a sticky top bar for matter identity, phase, sections, counts, and agent access. Phase controls open in focused modals, so status changes happen in context instead of through a separate management flow.

Case access controls

Cases now have clear ownership. Assign firm members, set a lead, and switch the portfolio between your cases, everyone, or a specific teammate.

Modals instead of side drawers

The right-sliding panels that used to open for actions like Add Task, Reply, Request Document, and Ask agent now appear as centered modals over your work.
