Client portal help
Read an invoice from your firm
Open Billing in the Client Portal. Current balances shows issued invoices that still have money due. History shows paid and void invoices.
Open an invoice to see its issue and due dates, lines, total, remaining balance, and payment history. Use Download PDF for the permanent copy issued by your firm. If you were named as an invoice recipient, you keep access to that invoice even if your Case access later changes; Clients added to the Case later do not automatically gain access.
Paying your firm
Follow the payment instructions on the invoice and contact your law firm with payment or invoice questions. BetterDocket does not collect the payment, store a card for this invoice, or hold money for your firm.
When the portal shows a payment, your firm recorded money it received outside BetterDocket. A reversal means the firm cancelled that entire payment record and may add a corrected replacement. BetterDocket does not independently verify the bank transaction.
Reminders
Your firm may send a reminder on the due date and weekly while a balance remains. A reminder does not add a fee or change the invoice. If an invoice is already paid or you think its balance is wrong, message your law firm.
The Billing page is an invoice record, not a trust-account or Client Funds statement. Ask your firm directly for any accounting it owes you about money held in trust or a retainer.
