Client portal help

Claim your portal account

Your law firm invited you to a secure portal for your case. To get in, create an account using the same email address your firm has on file — that's how your portal connects. There's no code to enter and no invite link that expires.

Create your account

From the invite email, press View your case, then choose Create an account. Use the email your firm contacted you at, pick a password of at least 8 characters, and press Create account. Check your inbox for a confirmation link, click it, then return and sign in with the email and password you just created. BetterDocket connects your portal automatically — no extra setup.

A quick note before you go in

The first time you enter, the portal shows a short notice worth actually reading:

  • BetterDocket is not your lawyer. We make the software. Questions about your case go to your law firm, not to us.
  • Your law firm controls your information. Your firm decides what appears here. To see, correct, or delete your case information, ask your firm.

Press Continue to my case when you're ready.

If no case appears

If you can sign in but see "No case is linked to this email yet," your sign-in works — the connection just hasn't been made. This almost always means the email you signed up with doesn't match the one your firm has on file. Ask your firm to add the email you're using to your client record; the portal connects automatically the next time you sign in, with no new account needed. If your firm says they've done that and nothing changes, email support@betterdocket.com.

Later cases just appear

If your firm opens another case for you — or a second firm invites you — you don't create anything new. Sign in with the same account and the case shows up in your portal, usually announced by a short email.

Once you're in: see where your case stands.
